So I'm currently reviewing the new Alicia Keys album, The Element of Freedom, and though I gave it a mediocre rating, here are a couple of gems on the album.


Music video is a bit questionable, but the song is mind-blowing. Definitely reminiscent of Mariah Carey during her better days, say, circa 1993.

If you're going to San Francisco...

The cheesy chorus lines of a Christmas carol could be heard on every radio station, the rich aroma of eggnog was brewing from every Starbucks shop, and in front of every grocery store was a Salvation Army worker ringing a jangled bell asking for donations. The fumes of Christmas drenched the air, and we knew it was right around the corner, but instead of going home, we - the few and the brave - decided to ditch the idea of basking in the warm comforts of our own homes in Southern California during this jolly holiday season for the chilly gloom of San Francisco. Some say this was a bold and risky idea, but we thought it was a grand opportunity for us to scope out the bustling city centrally located in "NorCal." Needless to say, we were properly greeted with the wonderful gloom weather - plenty of cloudy grey, but no signs of meatballs. Here, is a brief (if you can call 20+ minutes brief) account of our wonderful, tiring, surprising and eventful adventure in NorCal!

After raving about them since the beginning of time (not really, more like the beginning of the year-ish), I finally got to see Fanfarlo!

So last night, I got my dancing shoes on at the Friendly Fires, The xx and Holly Miranda show at the Fonda Theatre. By far one of the best line-ups I've ever seen. To be completely honest, I was initially more excited for the opening acts - Holly Miranda and The xx - but after seeing Friendly Fires perform, the status quo has changed. I usually walk away from a show completely satisfied and content, but after seeing these three bands perform together, my insatiable appetite only wants MORE! I really want to see The xx perform their own show, rather than a set boiled down to about 7-8 songs, and as for Holly, I can't wait till she has her own tour, but that will have to wait, since her album doesn't drop till early next year.



Probably one of my biggest obsessions right now. But then again, I obsess over a lot of things/people.
